America’s favorite game is back and The Sports Bank has you covered with the best and worst of what was Fantasy Football Week Six.
The game of fantasy appears to be returning to normal as running backs ruled again in week six with three of the top five performances coming from the RB position.

Fantasy MVP: RB Ahmad Bradshaw (130 total YDS and 3 TD = 30 points)
Bradshaw fully took advantage of Brandon Jacobs’ absence and a trend of good running performances against the Buffalo Bills. No matter how much Eli Manning wants to spread it around through the air, the Giants almost always return to a running game which they did in a 27-24 win over the Bills. Bradshaw received a career high 26 carries and is quietly putting together a decent year (390 yards and 5 touchdowns). New York has a bye in week seven, but follow with match-ups against the Dolphins and Patriots. If Jacobs takes longer to heal up the gimp knee, Bradshaw could be a nice asset to have.
Honorable Mention: RB Michael Turner (25 points), QB Aaron Rodgers (23 points) and RB Fred Jackson (22 points)
Disappointing Performance of the Week: WR Roddy White (2 REC and 21 YDS = 2 points)
This was a shocker considering teammate and fellow wideout Julio Jones missed the game due to a hamstring injury. White did have a team-high five targets, but Matt Ryan was forced to throw the ball only 22 times in a game that was headlined by RB Michael Turner who carried it a robust 27 times. I wouldn’t sit on this result too long considering how dangerous White is in the open-field. Next week, the Falcons travel to Detroit for what should be one of the best games next week. Expect White and the Lions’ Calvin Johnson to put together a highlight reel of great catches.
Wasting Away (Best Bench Player): WR Devin Hester (5 REC, 91 YDS and 2 TD = 21 points)
Hester was started in only 6.3 percent of leagues and owned in only 17.7 percent this weekend. Those lucky enough to start him received a tremendous boost on Sunday night. Granted one of his touchdowns was a kick-off return, but does it really matter? Hester has returned more touchdowns than anyone in history. He did leave the game with a chest injury, but his 48 yard strike from Jay Cutler made him look like a real receiver. The Bears have said the injury is nothing serious, so I wouldn’t close the book on the speedy Hester.
Somebody Pick Me Up (Best Free Agent): WR Arrelious Benn (3 REC, 83 YDS and 1 TD = 14 points)
The Illini alum (owned in 1.1 % of leagues) is finally living up to his reputation as a solid deep threat. QB Josh Freeman connected with Benn on a 65 yard touchdown for his second touchdown of the season. Benn isn’t Freeman’s go-to guy, but he did receive six targets and could have some value in a deep league. In the midst of bye weeks, you could do a lot worse than Benn in your flex spot.
Bucs K Connor Barth (16 points, 1.2 %), Browns QB Colt McCoy (15 points, 25.5 %), Bengals QB Andy Dalton (14 points, 12.4 %) and Texans WR Jacoby Jones (13 points, 10.5 %) should also be considered for roster spots in the upcoming week.
Hurts So Bad (Worst Injury): RB LeGarrette Blount (Possible Torn MCL)
Knee injuries seem to be the fad this season as many players are dealing with them in 2011. Even Saints coach Sean Payton felt he needed to experience the extremely painful injury. Some say Blount is out one to two weeks while others say he could be done for much longer. Similar to the Peyton Manning situation, I’m sticking to the worst-case scenario and say that Blount is most likely out for a while.
Plus, fill-in RB Earnest Graham looked as a serviceable replacement while racking up 109 yards on 17 carries and helping the Bucs pull an upset over the New Orleans Saints. If Blount does come back earlier than expected, I would expect Tampa to use caution with the young back. That is not good news for those who own Blount and especially in halfback-depleted fantasy leagues.
